A READING FROM THE PSALMS

Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29

PRAYER HYMN .......................................................................................................#657

This is the Day“

UNISON PRAYER

On this Palm Sunday, we recall the shouts of glad hosanna with which the people greeted Jesus. They were ready to hail him as the Christ, but he was not the Christ for whom they were looking. They were looking for a wearer of purple, but he traded the robes of royalty for the garment of a servant. They were looking for a swashbuckling warrior, but he praised the makers of peace. They were looking for one who would cater to the cries of the high and mighty but he ministered to the needs of the meek and lowly. O Lord, help us to recall and reclaim the life and ministry of Jesus, lest our shouts of glad hosanna betray the Christ who came. Amen.

In the Cross of Christ I Glory”

*DOXOLOGY FOR LENT....................................................................Tune: Old 100th

Were the whole realm of nature mine,

that were a present far too small;

love so amazing, so divine

demands my soul, my life, my all. Amen.

*PRAYER OF GIVING THANKS (in unison)

Great and wondrous God, on this festive and joyous day, we bring gifts. As we celebrate with Jesus his great entrance into Jerusalem, please help us to remember his great and costly sacrifice. May we return his most generous love for us with our gifts of love, talents, time, finances and our service to all the world. Amen.

THE SCATTERING TO SERVE IN THE WORLD

*CLOSING HYMN..................................................................................................#280

All Glory, Laud, and Honor”

*BENEDICTION AND BLESSING

One: Lay down the palm branches; cease the shouting.

All: Let our noisy Hosannas dissipate in the air.

One: Return the donkey and the colt to the stable,

All: For the parade is over; the procession is at an end.

One: Watch the crowd disperse: to their homes, to their lives and for some, they disperse to carry out a sinister plot against the Son of David.

All: We will watch, and wait.

One: Go now into this holiest of weeks,

with God as your guide.

*POSTLUDE

*All who are able, please stand.

We are having a wonderful winter season for skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and sledding with the weather we have been experiencing. This has been a boost to our Cadillac economy. Unfortunately, the rain, snow and ice have hindered our attendance on Sundays for worship. This in turn has hurt our offering plate in the new year; the Finance Committee is feeling the pinch. As we experience Holy Week, let us think of a new and strong beginning. Pastor Tom

Prayer Quilt Ministry stands ready to offer a Prayer Quilt to anyone who is in need of our prayers on their behalf. We will be tying a quilt this morning as we pray for our sister in Christ: Harriett Gaumer who is presently at Lakeview Lutheran Manor. The quilt will be in Fellowship Hall - stop by, tie a knot or two as you pray for Harriett. Come, offer your prayers.

The Christian Education Committee is searching for someone to take the position of Sunday School Superintendent. If interested, please contact Shelly DeCoeur or Pastor Tom at the church office at 775-5362.

Lenten Pocket Prayer Key Tags” which offers a reminder to pray and commit to the Lord during Lent are still available. The message board for our Lenten Prayer Partners is real active presently. Leave a note for your prayer partner any time. The prayer partners will be revealed on Easter Sunday. Plan to share in this ministry of prayer as we listen, reflect and receive during Lent.
