More Like You”

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of compassion,
we confess that in our busyness
we do not always love,
we forget whose we are and to whom we belong;
we get caught up in what we know, what we want,

putting our desires ahead of everyone and everything else.

Forgive us, O God, for words that hurt, actions that destroy, knowledge that belittles, addictions that consume.

Forgive us when our pride and self-righteousness build walls in our relationships with you, our family, our friends and neighbors.

Season us with your love. Help us to be kind, loving and encouraging. Make us agents of your transforming hope in a hurting world. In the name Jesus, we pray. Amen.

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (In Unison)

Gracious God, you have enriched our lives in so many ways, especially through the life, love and teaching of Jesus and through the wonders of creation which we experience in this land. Bless these gifts which we bring as signs of our gratitude and bless us as we seek to be dynamic proclaimers of the gospel in word and deed. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION.......................................................On insert

A Great Thanksgiving

We Gather at the Lord’s Table

Pastor: Come, all you who are loved by God.

Come to the table of the Lord,

Come and eat food with no cost,

Come and drink with no money to pay.

All: We come to eat, to drink and our hearts are glad.

Yes, dear Lord,

our hearts are truly glad and we are filled with thankfulness.

Because in your great love you did not abandon us in the dark and fearful places of this world.

But in Jesus, you came to us, to rescue us, to restore us and

to give us new life.

All: And all who are tired and burdened,

all who are frightened and unsafe,

all who are sick and broken,

can come and find new life.

We remember the way that Jesus showed us his love; on the evening before he died, Jesus had supper with his friends.

During the meal, he took the bread, gave thanks for it,

broke it and then passed it around with these words:

All: This is my body broken for you. Eat this and remember me.

And, after the meal, Jesus took the cup, gave thanks for it and then passed it around with these words:

All: This is my blood shed for you. Drink this and remember me.

And now, every time we eat bread like this, and we drink wine like this, we remember Jesus and his everlasting love as we pray together the prayer Jesus taught his disciples: Our Father . . .

Sharing of the Bread and the Cup

We Prepare to Go Back into the World

Now come, all you who are loved by God,

Hear the call to serve others as Christ has served you

Join the community of those who walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

All: Lord God of World-Changing Love,

we thank you for this meal and for welcoming us to your table.

We remember that we are your children, and that you have called us to share your love with everyone we meet.

Help us receive your life, walk in your strength

and follow your ways every moment of our lives.

And now, may God’s caring arms embrace us,

Jesus’ comforting words fill us,

and the Holy Spirit’s renewing Presence surround us

today and always. Amen.

Holy Communion is opened to all - all are invited and welcomed.

We will be serving by intinction this morning. You will receive

a piece of bread which can be dipped into the cup and received.

The Communion rail is opened for prayer.

Please come by the center aisle and return by the side aisle.

Hi, my name is Nikkie, and I am moving to Cadillac this week for a couple of months. I was just wondering if you knew of anyone in the church that may have a room available for rent. I’m only going to be around for about two months at the most (I’ll be working at Caberfae until the snow melts.) Instead of renting an apartment, I thought it would be nice to get connected with a church family who might be willing to lend out an extra room for a short while. I’m 23 years old and have grown up in the church, and come from the Jackson area, which is too far of a drive to make to Caberfae every day. I would be gone most of the time, at work. I’m willing to help out around the house if needed or wanted. If you know of anyone who might have a room available for rent, I’d love to get in contact with them. My phone number is 517-914-2899 and email is nikki,vt@juno.com. Thanks so much and God bless!
