BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST....................by the Acolytes

WELCOME, PARISH NOTES, AND SHINING LIGHT AWARD

CLIP BOARD MINISTRY FOR DECEMBER & CHRISTMAS EVE

*GATHERING WORDS

One:..........We gather today in the season of preparation.

All:..........Although we have been preparing for celebrations,

we come seeking to prepare our hearts to receive

God's Good News.

One:..........Get ready! The Lord is bringing to us Hope and Peace.

All:..........How wonderful it is that the Lord is showering us

with Peace.

One:..........Open your hearts and let your spirits be quieted.

Be at peace with the Lord.

All:..........Lord, prepare our lives and bring us your peace. Amen.

*OPENING HYMN....................#209

Blessed Be the God of Israel”

*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

PRAYER HYMN....................#207

Prepare the Way of the Lord”

LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT CANDLE OF PEACE

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Forgive us, Alive God,
that in the music in the stores and the jingles in the air,
we do not hear the songs of the angels;

that in the hustle and bustle of every day and every one,
we do not see the child standing alone in tears,
the family struggling for existence,
the outcasts pushed further away from hope;
that in the pitches over the airwaves and online,
we do not find the peace, the hope, the joy,
all the gifts you offer to your children.

Pour out your tender mercy upon us, God of blessings, and finish what you have started in us. As we share in your grace, may we also share in the work of the gospel of peace, of hope, of reconciliation begun in the birth of Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

WORDS OF PROMISE
Pastor:
..........Like a warm shawl, God drapes tender mercy around

our souls; like the moon on a winter night, God's Light breaks through our shadows, showing us the path to

life.

All:..........The street of peace, the avenue of hope, the path of grace, the road to service - hand in hand, we walk the ways of our God. Amen.

Our church is coordinating the Food Distribution at Project Christmas. We need help with the distribution on Saturday, December 12. A sign-up board is in the narthex. In addition, we need youth volunteers on Saturday, December 12, who would be willing to help those who come, shop and carry their bags. Thanks to all who have already volunteered; you are all needed & appreciated!!

Those serving in the military in our nation are away from home and loved ones. Mail is a connection that they look forward to daily - a word of care and encouragement. Do you have a family member or friend who is currently serving our nation? We would like their addresses so we can offer our congregation opportunity to be encouragers to these soldiers. Helen Quinn will be coordinating this effort. Please give her the FULL address of your loved one or friend or you may email it to her. A list of those name and addresses will be shared with the congregation as soon as we have them assembled.

If you are headed to a warmer climate for the winter PLEASE notify the church office when you will be leaving. Returned or forwarded mail costs the church. You can call the office (775-5362) with your winter address and the date you will be leaving, or you can email your information to umccadillac@sbcglobal.net. Thank you for your cooperation!

The 2010 Flower Chart is available on the bulletin board in the office hallway. You may sign-up to honor or remember a person(s) or special occasion. The flowers are $15 - simply remit through your regular offering envelope or a pew envelope.

Temple Hill Baptist Church, 1601 W. Division St. • Cadillac, will be hosting a Blood Drive on Monday, December 7 from 1:00 - 6:45 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 8 from 11:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.. You must have photo ID or donor card to donate.
