WE GATHER TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

*A GATHERING LITANY FOR ASCENSION SUNDAY

One:.....Let us gather as they gathered on the Mount of Olivet.
Let us remember the teachings of the law, psalms, and prophets.

Many:.....Ride on King Jesus, no one can hinder you!

One:.....Let us gather as they gathered when Jesus rose into heaven. Let us remember that every sin has been forgiven.

Many:.....Ride on King Jesus, no one can hinder you!

One:.....Let us gather as they gathered when Jesus rode upon the clouds. Let us remember how he promised that we would be clothed in power.

Many:.....Ride on King Jesus, no one can hinder you!

One:.....Let us gather as they gathered upon a hill so high.
Let us remember the ascension of our Messiah.

Many:.....Ride on King Jesus, no one can hinder you!

*HYMN OF PRAISE

Alleluia, Sing to Jesus

Alleluia! sing to Jesus! His the scepter, His the throne.
Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory alone.
Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion thunder like a mighty flood.
Jesus out of every nation has redeemed us by His blood.

Alleluia! not as orphans are we left in sorrow now;
Alleluia! He is near us, faith believes, nor questions how;
Tho’ the cloud from sight received Him When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget His promise, “I am with you evermore”?

Alleluia! Bread of heaven, You on earth our food, our stay!
Alleluia! here the sinful flee to You from day to day:
Intercessor, Friend of sinners, Earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless sweep across the crystal sea.

UNISON PRAYER

Resurrected Savior, Savior of new life and new hope, we come to you in humble prayer and joyous song, for Easter has changed our lives. We are no longer frightened people - because you live, we have courage to face life and to face death. We are no longer lonely people - because you live, we can accept ourselves and reach out to each other. We are no longer scattered people - because you live, we may come together to worship and to witness in our weakness and our strength, in the presence of your reign among us and the promise of your reign to come. Amen.
