WE GATHER TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

INFORMAL TIME OF HYMN SINGING

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

*CALL TO CELEBRATION

One:..........We gather in worship, mindful of the need of the world. We remember the hungry, the friendless, the hopeless.

All:..........But we are only a few loaves and fishes. Are we enough?

One:..........We look out to the crowd ready, waiting, needing nurture, praying that someone might show them the good news of God’s love.

All:..........But we are only a few loaves and fishes. Are we enough?

One:..........We hear the voice of Jesus instructing us to break ourselves open, to become vulnerable, available to the world around us, to trust in God’s promise of abundance.

All:..........But we are only a few loaves and fishes. Are we enough?

One:..........As we break ourselves open we discover the fount of living water springing up within us, the bread of healing and peace kneaded in our own hearts:

All:..........There is enough, enough for us and all the world.

One:..........Not only enough-–more than enough.

All:..........With baskets of leftovers spilling onto the ground!

Break Thou the Bread of Life”

UNISON PRAYER

Holy One,
Come to us.
Fill us with your fullness.
Remind us that our desires are good
and that love and abundance are present in our lives.
Gently reveal to us the deep desire of the world.
What is our part in fulfilling such hunger, such longing?
Show us your five thousand,
that we may feed them.
We hunger to do justice.
We hunger for mercy.
We hunger to walk humbly.
Root us and ground us in your love and
Sustain us in your work.
Amen.

*PRAYER OF CONSECRATION....................(in unison)

Jesus, all the people came to you hungry for your words of life.
You took the little they had, blessed their gifts, multiplied them
and fed the crowd. They had more than their fill, much was left over. O Christ, please take our meager offerings. Bless them, multiply them, make them holy. Use us, and the gifts you have given us, to care for the needy world. Amen.
