*Call to Celebration

One:..........It is still Christmas.

All:..........Joy is still loose in the world,

One:..........Love is lodged in hearts,

All:..........and peace is still our fervent hope.

One:..........t's still Christmas,

All:..........Though the presents are all unwrapped,

One:..........The batteries have run down,

All:..........And family members have returned home.

One:..........It's still Christmas,

All:..........For God begins anew,

One:..........Giving us a baby to care for

All:..........And calling us to live with tender compassion,

gentle care and overflowing love.

Good Christian Friends, Rejoice”

Unison Prayer

Mary and Joseph searched for you everywhere.
Many times we can’t find you either, Lord,
and we are anxious.

But you were teaching in the temple, weren’t you?
Teach us too—wisdom, grace and favor—
now, in those difficult times.

Stay behind with us. Amen.

*Prayer of Dedication (in unison)

*Closing Hymn

Christmas Angels Medley

It came upon the midnight clear,

That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,

To touch their harps of gold:
"Peace on the earth, goodwill to men

From heavens all gracious King!"
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing.

Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o'er all the earth
Ye who sang creations story,
Now proclaim Messiah's birth

Refrain:..........Come and worship, come and worship,Worship Christ the new-born king

Hark the herald angels Sing, “Glory to the newborn King;

Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!” Joyful, all ye nations, rise, join the triumph of the skies;

with th’angelic host proclaim, “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”

Refrain:..........Hark! The herald angels sing,

Glory to the newborn King!”

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;

Refrain:..........O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

*Blessing and Benediction

One:..........The world of time and space can never be big enough for the Holy One who has created it, redeemed it, and sustains it.

Yet by astounding grace, God the Holy One can live in the small hearts and minds of those who receive and share him.

All:..........Thanks be to God!

One:..........May God be a smooth path ahead of you,

A guiding star above you,

A sharp eye behind you,

Today, tonight, and forever

Amen.

(From an old Celtic blessing)

UNISON PRAYER

Dearest God, Joy of the world! Hope of tomorrow! Light of heaven! You are the Creator of everything; through your word the world and everything in it exists. You are the maker of red berried holly trees, of fragrant Christmas trees, of tinsel sparkling with many colors of light, of carols to be sung, of gifts given and received, of children born, of blessed rest everlasting, of everything which is beautiful, which is lovely, which is good. Be with us, Holy Lord of heaven and earth, live among us, let us feel your presence, as we continue to celebrate the birth of your child, your gift, your love, who came to live, grow, and teach among us. May our hearts always be young in your love. Amen.

Those serving in the military in our nation are away from home and loved ones. Mail is a connection that they look forward to daily - a word of care and encouragement. Do you have a family member or friend who is currently serving our nation? We would like their addresses so we can offer our congregation opportunity to be encouragers to these soldiers. Helen Quinn will be coordinating this effort. Please give her the FULL address of your loved one or friend or you may email it to her. A list of those name and addresses is now available on the table by the Prayer Quilt.

If you are headed to a warmer climate for the winter PLEASE notify the church office when you will be leaving. Returned or forwarded mail costs the church. You can call the office (775-5362) with your winter address and the date you will be leaving, or you can email your information to umccadillac@sbcglobal.net. Thank you for your cooperation!
