WE GATHER TO WORSHIP
PRELUDE
BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES
*WORSHIP ALERT FOR ONE VOICE Walking on the path, following Jesus. Sometimes there is joy in our step. Sometimes we are not so sure - What may lie ahead? Hosannas or angry crowds? A prayerful garden or a stark cross? A holy meal or an empty place at the table? As we journey through Lent, please walk with us, Jesus.
*HYMN OF PRAISE.........................................................................#185 “Fairest Lord Jesus”
*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
THE PEOPLE OF GOD PRAYING
If you have a prayer joy or concern you would like shared during the Prayer of the People, please hand it to an usher.
PRAYER HYMN..................................................................................................#383 “This Is a Day of New Beginnings“
RESPONSIVE PRAYER OF CONFESSION One:..Who
do we say that Jesus is? In our finest moments, we declare God’s
truth: Shepherd and Friend. Jesus is Lord of our whole lives. One:..Who do we say that Jesus is? In our weakest moments, we utter deceptions: All:.....Jesus is a magician who makes our problems disappear, a superhero who rescues us from trouble. Or, he is a nice man who lived once upon a time: inoffensive, benign, sentimental and dull. A superstition. A wishful imagining. A Sunday morning diversion who asks nothing from us. One:..Forgive us our feeble and false affirmations. All:.....Empower us to answer the question with renewed energy and integrity: One:..Who do we say that Jesus is?
All:.....Love
beyond all loving, Name beyond all names, Hope beyond all wishing,
Eternal Mystery, Word-made-flesh, Our Redeemer. He asks great
things of us, and empowers us for the tasks of discipleship. He is
the Lord. Amen. ASSURANCE

*PRAYER OF CONSECRATION (in unison) God
of revelation, in Christ your word has been made fully known. As
we continue to unwrap the mysterious gift of his presence, use our
gifts to proclaim him. Use us for your continued work, as we grow
to spiritual maturity. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. WE SCATTER TO SERVE IN THE WORLD

Love to sing? You still have opportunity to come and join in a gathered Community Choir for the Community Good Friday Service on April 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cadillac Christian Reformed Church. The choir will be under the direction of Dave McMahon. Practices will be on Wednesday, April 1 and April 8 at our church at 8:00 p.m. They will be singing two anthems during the service. All are invited to share in this musical offering.
In his passing, Harold Gekeler left behind two kitties, Tiger and Priscilla, who are looking for a new home, or homes. Tiger is a mellow 16 year old male tabby. He’s a “good ole guy” that lies around most of the time, but still plays. Priscilla is a middle aged, white and orange female, with a tail that wags like a dog (gotta see it.) Both cats are indoor/outdoor and litter trained. If you would like to consider adopting one or both of these kitties, please call Steve Gorski, Harold’s grandson.

Cereal Sunday - On the first Sunday of the month our congregation collects non-perishable food items or paper products. One month it is delivered to OASIS, the local shelter for women and children. The alternating month it goes to the local food pantry, The King’s Storehouse at First Baptist. April is a shower of cereal for OASIS. As you shop this month, pick up a box or two. Join us in building a tower of cereal! |
