WE GATHER TO WORSHIP

PRELUDE

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

WELCOME AND PARISH NOTES

*WORSHIP ALERT FOR ONE VOICE

Walking on the path, following Jesus.

Sometimes there is joy in our step.

Sometimes we are not so sure -

What may lie ahead?

Hosannas or angry crowds?

A prayerful garden or a stark cross?

A holy meal or an empty place at the table?

As we journey through Lent, please walk with us, Jesus.

*HYMN OF PRAISE.........................................................................#185

Fairest Lord Jesus”

*SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

THE PEOPLE OF GOD PRAYING

If you have a prayer joy or concern you would like shared

during the Prayer of the People, please hand it to an usher.

PRAYER HYMN..................................................................................................#383

This Is a Day of New Beginnings“

RESPONSIVE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

One:..Who do we say that Jesus is? In our finest moments, we declare God’s truth:
All:.....Jesus is the Messiah, God-with-us, Savior of all,

Shepherd and Friend. Jesus is Lord of our whole lives.

One:..Who do we say that Jesus is? In our weakest moments, we utter deceptions:

All:.....Jesus is a magician who makes our problems disappear, a superhero who rescues us from trouble. Or, he is a nice man who lived once upon a time: inoffensive, benign, sentimental and dull. A superstition. A wishful imagining. A Sunday morning diversion who asks nothing from us.

One:..Forgive us our feeble and false affirmations.

All:.....Empower us to answer the question with renewed energy and integrity:

One:..Who do we say that Jesus is?

All:.....Love beyond all loving, Name beyond all names, Hope beyond all wishing, Eternal Mystery, Word-made-flesh, Our Redeemer. He asks great things of us, and empowers us for the tasks of discipleship. He is the Lord. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Who do we say Jesus is? He is the judge of all — but also the one who was judged. He knew no sin, yet he took on the powers of sin for our sake. We are redeemed through his loving sacrifice. And we are invited, called, compelled, to follow. May it be so.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,

demands my soul, my life, my all. Amen.

*PRAYER OF CONSECRATION (in unison)

God of revelation, in Christ your word has been made fully known. As we continue to unwrap the mysterious gift of his presence, use our gifts to proclaim him. Use us for your continued work, as we grow to spiritual maturity. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

IT'S BEEN A ROUGH WINTER!
Record snowfall, boiler failure, broken pipes, increased utility bills. Put this along with the weather causing decreased attendance and offerings on a few Sundays and our expenses are getting well ahead of our offering income. Take a look at the display board in the fellowship hall and grab an envelope. Prayerfully consider an extra gift to your church, of whatever amount you are able, to help offset the deficit we are experiencing. Help get your church out from under the mounting pile of unexpected & increasing expenses.

Thank you,

Finance Committee

Love to sing? You still have opportunity to come and join in a gathered Community Choir for the Community Good Friday Service on April 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cadillac Christian Reformed Church. The choir will be under the direction of Dave McMahon. Practices will be on Wednesday, April 1 and April 8 at our church at 8:00 p.m. They will be singing two anthems during the service. All are invited to share in this musical offering.

In his passing, Harold Gekeler left behind two kitties, Tiger and Priscilla, who are looking for a new home, or homes. Tiger is a mellow 16 year old male tabby. He’s a “good ole guy” that lies around most of the time, but still plays. Priscilla is a middle aged, white and orange female, with a tail that wags like a dog (gotta see it.) Both cats are indoor/outdoor and litter trained. If you would like to consider adopting one or both of these kitties, please call Steve Gorski, Harold’s grandson.

Wesley Fellowship will meet on Thursday, April 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the Corbin Room. We invite everyone to come join in the fellowship of a shared meal and the beautiful music of Easter, played by hand bell soloist Kristine Stout. Bring your own table service and a dish to share.

Blood Drives will be at Temple Hill Baptist Church, 1601 W. Division, on Monday, April 6 from 1:00 - 6:45 p.m. & Tuesday, April 7 from 11:15 a.m.-5:00 p.m.. You must be at least 17 years old, at least 110 pounds and you must have photo ID or donor card to donate.

I want to thank my church family for all the prayers and cards, and thanks to Don and Marie Rennie for visiting me in the hospital and Margaret Himes for the Shamrock plant and staying to chat. You are daybrighteners. God bless all of you. Ona Greenman

Please note there will be no YOUth meetings tonight, March 29 or next Sunday, April 4 due to spring break.

Cereal Sunday - On the first Sunday of the month our congregation collects non-perishable food items or paper products. One month it is delivered to OASIS, the local shelter for women and children. The alternating month it goes to the local food pantry, The King’s Storehouse at First Baptist. April is a shower of cereal for OASIS. As you shop this month, pick up a box or two. Join us in building a tower of cereal!
