Honoring Those Who Have Served Our Nation
A Litany for Independence Day and Prayers of the Intercession We Remember All Those Litany for Independence Day & Prayers of Intercession
God of the Ages, the framers of our Declaration of Independence claimed that you have endowed us with in- alienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Yet there are those who would take these from us. Today, we remember all those who have served in our nation’s armed forces to preserve the freedoms you have granted us, to make it impossible for those who would take away our freedoms from prevailing. We thank you for the freedom their sacrifice has earned and guarded for us.
One:..........For the men and women who serve in the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, All:..........We ask your blessing.
One:..........For the family members who have made great sacrifices in order to make it possible for their service members to be on watch at home or around the world or to go into harm’s way, All:..........We ask your blessing.
One:..........For the families who grieve the death of a member who went in harm’s way, never to return, All:..........We ask your blessing.
One:..........Jesus tells us that no one has greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. For all those veterans and active service members who have been willing to lay down their lives, All:..........We ask you blessing.
One:..........For the veterans of past wars who bear scars in their bodies and spirits and those who came home but couldn’t “fit in” with their families or communities anymore, All:..........We ask your blessing.
Keep all those who are serving or who have served in our miliary in your care today. Grant them the peace they sought to preserve for others. As we honor them, we also pray for peace. Teach all your people the ways of peace that those who have sacrificed so much for peace and freedom will not have done so in vain.
Today, we would also remember those in our circle of care who have particular joys or concerns. We pray for . . .
We pray all these things in the name of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Love INC continues to receive a considerable number of requests for a wheelchair ramp from callers throughout the two counties we serve. Our wonderful team of “ramp builders” from St. Ann Church have been building ramps for nearly 13 years, and are hoping that another “team” can be developed to meet the increased number of requests. If you have an interest in this rewarding opportunity, please call Linda or Sue P. at Love INC, 779-1888.

TODAY, we will be honoring those who have served or are serving in the military, during both worship services. How much your service to our nation is appreciated!
We will be offering a totally gluten-free option during Holy Communion. The communion wafers contain no gluten, wheat, dairy or corn. They will be available at a serving station with a separate chalice of juice to avoid cross-contamination. We desire that the Table be open to all and hope this enables those who have an allergy to gluten to receive Communion safely and freely.
New cards are available for the Military Prayer Quilt. You are invited to place cards on the quilt of those serving, update previous cards or add one for a person who has served our nation. The quilt is in Fellowship Hall for you to place on it a card with the name, area of service and location of those serving our nation so that our congregation might pray for them especially during these days of increased, extended and expanded deployment of our troops.
Naomi Circle will meet for lunch at 12:00 noon Thursday, July 15 at Lakeside Charlie’s. For reservations, please call Donna Freeland by Monday, July 12.
The OASIS/Family Resource Center will be receiving the food and paper products for the month of July. Would you also consider the giving of personal care products as well? Many times these women and children must leave hurriedly and cannot pack a bag with things they will need. Your support means so much to them. They are always so overwhelmed and grateful for the many items that are delivered from our church.
We are in of some additional helpers and teachers for Vacation Bible School which will be August 2-5. Please contact Tonja Hinkston or Lisa Weaver if you can help in any way.
A thousand thanks to all of you for your cards, prayers and beautiful thoughts. I am getting better and hope to be in church soon. With lots of love, Ruth Peterson

The next Equal Coffee Exchange Sale will be held TODAY, following both worship services. Both regular & decaf are available.
Our own School Pantry Ministry will receive the money from our July Loose Plate Offering. The Missions Committee thought if we didn’t wait until August for a collection, the School Pantry Committee could get a head start on purchasing school supplies as they go on sale in late July and early August. This mission has helped countless young people in our community start their school year on a great note. The happiness and eagerness (and thankfulness) these youngsters and their parents show when they receive their backpack filled with school supplies is priceless. Please help us continue this most worthwhile church mission.
Today, we will be tying a Prayer Quilt for Justin Bruner. The Quilt will be available for your prayers and tying in the Fellowship Hall following both worship services. A reminder that Prayers & Squares is an outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt. Each quilt is for someone in special need of our love and prayers. |
