Welcome and Parish Notes

Clip Board Ministry for April and Good Friday

*Worship Alert
One:..........Lord God, we have gathered here in your Spirit,
All:..........With hearts hungry from our Lenten journey.

One:..........In the midst of our wilderness travels,

we yearn for holy refreshment,

All:..........Through your loving and healing Spirit.

One:..........We yearn now in our time together to experience you,

All:..........In fresh, new and abundant ways.

One:..........Prepare us now for this time of worship,

All:..........And may the power and promise of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us.

*Hymn of Praise

We Have Come to Join in Worship”

We have come to join in worship
And adore the Lord our God.
Let us come in prayer, expecting
God to speak His mighty Word.
All is vain unless the Spirit
Of the Holy One comes down.
Christians, pray and holy manna
Will be showered all around.

See them gather all around you,
Those He bought at such a cost;
See the weary, see the hurting,
See the lonely, see the lost.
Be His hand, and touch the needy;
Be His gospel, let it sound!
Be His body, and sweet manna
Will be showered all around.

Let us love our God supremely;
Let us love each other, too.
Let us care for all His people
Till our God makes all things new.
Christ will call us home to heaven;
At His banquet we'll sit down;
Christ Himself will rise and serve us
Living manna all around.

Prayer Hymn....................#2113

Lamb of God”

Unison Prayer

God of extravagant love,

sometimes it is too overwhelming,

too wonderful to grasp-

this love of yours.

As we worship this morning,

open our souls wide-

that every word spoken,

and every note sung

will form and reform

us as your people.

As we drink in your abundant love,

enable us to be conduits

of this gracious love

to all the world. Amen.

*Doxology....................#94

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise God, all creatures here below; Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise God, the source of all our gifts!

Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!

Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*Prayer of Dedication (in unison)

Good and Gracious God, when Jesus was anointed at Bethany, he reminded us all that our earthly time would be short in proportion to our heavenly time with you. We recognize that we only have so much time to love, to laugh, to give, and to care in this world. In this time of giving, we present these generous gifts to be anointed by your hand to glorify the promise of everlasting life. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

*Closing Hymn....................#2158

Just a Closer Walk With Thee”

*Blessing and Benediction

WELCOME, PARISH NOTES AND CLIP BOARD MINISTRY

*GATHERING WORDS

One:..........Walking on the path,

All:..........Following Jesus.

One:..........Sometimes there is joy in our step.

All:..........Sometimes we are not so sure–

One:..........What may lie ahead?

All:..........Hosannas or angry crowds?

One:..........A prayerful garden or a stark cross?

All:..........A holy meal or an empty place at the table?

One:..........Journeying toward Lent,

All:..........Please walk with us, Jesus.

THE PEOPLE OF GOD PRAYING

If you have a prayer joy or concern you would like shared during the Prayer of the People, please hand it to an usher during the Prayer Hymn.

PRAYER ANTHEM....................Chancel Choir

Lamb of God with ‘Were You There?’” Arr. Paris/Mayfield

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O God, giver of extravagant gifts, teach us the joy of giving. You have given to us again and again. You provide for our every need but we confess that we often still desire more. Our wants get the best of us. Forgive our selfish ways. May we, like Mary, learn the joy of giving. Help us to see that giving sacrificially is what you desire. May we learn to give abundantly and joyously. We pray in the name of the One who gave his all, Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen.

WORDS OF PROMISE

The righteousness that comes from God
is given to all who turn from their past
and put their faith in Christ.
Beloved in Christ, God has heard your confession;
Christ Jesus has made you his own.
Your sins are forgiven!
